Portland Area Retail Closures

Locked doors and news reports were the only notices that many employees of four Portland-area Chili’s Grill & Bar restaurants received Monday and Tuesday informing them they were out of work.
Several said while jobs of the roughly 200 employees at Chili’s weren’t lucrative positions, they enjoyed their work, felt a sense of belonging in the restaurants and worried they’d missed a chance at summertime hiring elsewhere.
“The hardest thing is that we are not a bunch of slackers who don’t want real jobs,” said Jennifer Kennedy, who worked at the Wilsonville restaurant for more than three years. In Oregon, only the Eugene and Clackamas restaurants remain open.
